The NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water is seeking public feedback on the proposed Water NSW Regulation 2026, which will replace the current Water NSW Regulation 2020 when it expires on 1 September 2026.
The Water NSW Regulation supports the operation of the Water NSW Act 2014 by enabling WaterNSW to regulate access to and activities within declared catchment areas in Greater Sydney. This helps to:
- ensure safe and high-quality drinking water for over 5.4 million people across Sydney, the Blue Mountains, and the Illawarra
- protect critical water infrastructure such as dams, pumping stations, pipes, and canals.
Some changes are proposed that won’t have major impacts on residents, businesses or other stakeholders, and will not affect customer water prices.
This survey will take approximately 10 minutes to complete. The responses will be used to inform the final Regulation.
