Billabong Creek regulator replacement works – extended weekend working hours agreement form

The Water Group in the NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water is seeking agreement from residents in Wanganella for extended weekend working hours to occur as part of replacing the existing weir at Wanganella with a new regulator. Construction is set to begin in March 2026, with practical completion scheduled for  December 2026.

We are seeking agreement for the contractor, Abergeldie Complex Infrastructure, to carry out some construction activities from 7am to 6pm on weekends when required.

These activities may include the use of heavy machinery exceeding noise management levels for some residents in Wanganella. Works are not planned to take place every weekend, and particularly noisy works will be avoided on weekends where possible.

Some residents would experience typical noise levels of 30-50 dB during the extended weekend working hours, with short periods of peak noise up to 62db. For context, a running refrigerator is around 50 dB and a normal conversation is around 60-70 dB.

These residents have been sent a letter asking them to agree to the extended weekend working hours.

It is important to note, once residents have provided consent they, and the wider community, would still be able to raise concerns about excessive noise and other issues with the Water Group for further investigation.
